Agreed, the friends system as it is now easily allows stalking, i don't feel very comfortable with it nor like it...

lol stalking? its not like they are jacking off to your real picture or something.
What they should do is increase the block list.

My ignore list has been full for >2 years. It is very hard to find enough space to fit annoying ppl on your ignore list the way it stands atm.

Or you could convince all your friends to run guild wars through steam, set GW as "offline" or "Do not disturb" and just shift+tab to whisper. A little more annoying, but it gives you privacy.
Edit: you could just tell them to go away, be a total ass. they'd probably leave you alone.

What they should do is just add a "friends only" option in the drop-box on the friends list. That'd probably be a lot easier than implementing a friend-request system.

How does eveyone have a full ignore list?
Do you all go around and make enemies or something? If you need to /ignore someone, do it and take them off 2 weeks later.

I make friends quickly, and enemies faster. I tend to piss off people quite thoroughly because apparently people have problems with me giving their suggestions on changing their builds, because god knows they're perfect. Using "I am the strongest" and wanding people? Yeah, epic combination right there. Don't bring a useful spell or anything. HB monks with standard resurrects over resurrection chant or some such? Inexcusable. Just plain stupidity, such as being a Minion master and using skills like vampiric bite to compensate for blood the master.... again, just plain stupidity. I piss people off easily.
Furthermore, noobs in PvP tend to get pissed off when you own them, and sometimes people are just assholes. And/or I just don't like them.
EDIT : I just find 98% of the human population to be rather... slow. Kay? Until you've proven you won't do or say something stupid at least once an hour.... No, just no. That's why I hero/hench more often than not... I only need 30 more areas in proph to vanquish, then I've gotten all the PvE titles (Guardian, vanquisher, legendary master, ect.) without needing a single other player, using a consumable, using "gimmick" builds like N/Rt healers, using a single wiki build, or using any norn blessing skill (aside from the missions that you have to)
In my opinion, PvE is a one-player game. It's only online in case you're not good enough to do it on your own.

No, I don't really /Try/ to make enemies, I just don't play nice with others. I generally just delete the oldest ignored, and add the new player when I have to.

How do you manage to piss so many people off if you've "gotten all the PvE titles (Guardian, vanquisher, legendary master, ect.) without needing a single other player, using a consumable, using "gimmick" builds like N/Rt healers, using a single wiki build, or using any norn blessing skill (aside from the missions that you have to)"? Honestly I think the only reason you need an ignore list is because you keep thinking other people give a shit about what you think of the build they run, so stick to h/h and you don't need an ignore list or even a friends list for that matter.

Because despite all that I'm a nice guy and I help my friends, though people that accompany them sometimes need help with their builds, so I give suggestions >.>

I don't pug unless I'm doing DoA, Urgoz, or some other area that henchmen aren't allowed in.

Actually...I'd be cool with the "Friends Only/Guildie" Drop down option or the "Friend Request"
Personally ever since I started getting into PvP and having to get on vent, as soon as someone hears I'm a female they decide to add me to their friend's list and randomly pm me with cheesy lines and retarded comments.
I can't fit all these horny obnoxious guys on the ignore list.

/sigh, This happens to me REGULARLY... i seem to have an everlasting effect on people and constantly get messages from people who aren't on my f list and i have no idea who they are. I'm really not sure why because i'm really horrible to people most of the time but anyway... it's so awkward .. i feel bad saying "whoru?" after they send a message like "Hey !!!! how are you? ))))" so i pretend i remember them or go offline =/
also a bigger ignore list is a great idea because the scrub population grows exponentially

I'm not too popular in the GuildWars community, but some of the people that message me who I have no idea who they are, just remind me that we used to hang out in the beginning of the game or something.

I know this feeling, I get random PM's all the time because of my YouTube videos and I'm thinking "who is this person?" Now sure I don't mind randomly talking to people but I do see your point. So yes there should be a better friend system, at least for Guild Wars 2.
The ignore list is too small with all the spammers and jerks in the game. And I still say that if you have someone on your ignore list they shouldn't even be allowed to see if you're online. It's better than them getting a note saying "So and so is ignoring you".
So those are my thoughts, I like this idea so I'll /sign.

I'd like the choice to whether or not the person sees me as a FRIEND or not.
